JV 6, Woodbridge 5 (S&S)

March 15, 2013

S&S LogoTrabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse JV opened the 6th annual Sticks & Stones Invitational with a 6-5 win over Woodbridge at Trabuco  Stadium on Friday night. The host Mustangs are playing in the tournament’s Division Pink.

It was a slower-paced gamed that proved challenging for the Mustangs. The Mustangs struck first, but Woodbridge followed up quickly with a goal of their own. This would be the pace of the game the rest of the way. At halftime the score was tied at 3-3. Coach Rich Ransom and Coach Scott Leong made some halftime adjustments and the Mustangs quickened the pace on the legs of Jacquie Cronkrite and Shannon Smith. Sam Ransom played a solid game and frustrated the Woodbridge offense by stopping several low shots. The Mustangs pulled ahead by two in the final minutes. Woodbridge came within one, but it was not enough and Mustangs finished with a one-goal victory to open the 6th annual Sticks and Stones.

Goals: Irene Petruzzi 2, and one each from Shannon Smith, Lauren Liberman, Jaquie Cronkrite and Ashley Bradshaw.

Groundball leaders: Hannah Moller and Shelby Siano, each with 3.

Saves: Sam Ransom, 8.

Record: 3-1

Next: Foothill Frosh/Soph in Sticks & Stones Round 2, Saturday!
