Fall ball signup begins

August 20, 2009

Coach Scott Mann says of “Fall Ball” that Trabuco Hills will have a team participating in the Saturday Fall League at Newport Ridge Park (Newport Beach) starting September 19-November 28 (minus a few holiday weekends.) All girls must have a current US Lacrosse number and there will be two games each Saturday. Additionally, I anticipate practicing one day a week in the late afternoon at a location/time to be determined.

Cost for fall ball is $75. Payable to Trabuco Hills Girls’ Lacrosse. Mail to:

Mission Viejo, CA 92691

Also, Mann notes …

  • Wall Ball Workout (throwing the ball against a cement wall or handball court): This workout should be completed at least three times a week. #1 50 Right, 50 Left (regular throwing) #2 50 Quick-Stick Right, 50 Quick-Stick Left. #3 50 Throw Right & Catch Left, then Throw Left & Catch Right. #4 25 One Handed w/ Right, 25 One Handed w. Left. #5 25 Behind the Back, Each Hand (advanced catch).
  • Team OC (club program for players seeking to be the best): The top lacrosse club team in Orange County, will be having its open player tryout on August 23. If you have the desire to be a top level lacrosse player or wish to make the right connections with college coaches throughout the United States; this is the place to be. You must reserve your spot for August 23 at http://www.teamoclax.com. A few Trabuco Hills girls have already signed up to tryout!
  • Serrano Hawks (club program for local players): This program is directed by El Toro Head Coach Lee Danbara and has proven to be quite beneficial for aspiring lacrosse players. They play in a few local tournaments and are excellent in developing players; no experience necessary. For more information please contact Coach Lee (Danbara6 at cox.net). Some Trabuco girls have mentioned their intent to participate.
  • Youth Opportunities: To help the future of TH Lacrosse, we need to help get local girls involved in the sport. If you know of anyone, then please check out SoCal Lacrosse (http://socallacrosse.ialax.com/). Scott Leong (Danielle’s Dad) is one of the coaches and can be reached at scott at endevco.com.
  • Trabuco Hills Preseason Conditioning: We will begin our preseason conditioning in mid-November. This will prepare girls for tryouts to be held in January. It is not required, but highly recommended for any girl wishing to tryout. All athletes involved in other sports should not be worried about missing conditioning; the skills they are practicing with other sports will prepare them for our tryouts as well.
