JV tourney suggests donations

April 22, 2010

The Mustang JV will play in the Surf City Tournament on May 8-9. The tournament is strongly suggesting that all team bring donations of cleaning supplies for needy households in that neighborhood.

From the tournament director:

Donations to “Project Spring Cleaning” is required of all players; not just teams. This will be monitored at the tournament and teams/players that do not participate will result in point deductions for your team.

This is an important part to keep the use of this great facility in Huntington Beach. The OC Chapter of US Lacrosse, is asking all Surf City participants to join us in making a Team Effort to support Project Self-Sufficiency, with ” Project Spring Cleaning”. Project Self Sufficiency is an official Charitable Foundation of the City of Huntington Beach. All teams will be asked to bring in donations of house hold cleaning supplies for “Project Spring Cleaning.” Project Self Sufficiency is dedicated to assisting low income, single parents.

Without the generous support of the City of Huntington Beach Parks and Recreation, in both granting The OC Chapter a field permit and by agreeing to a reduction in field costs, this great event would not be possible. Therefore, in an effort to thank the City of HB for their generosity, let’s all pitch in and help the hard working families of Project Access with “Project Spring Cleaning”.

Items needed:

  • paper towels
  • dish soap
  • laundry detergent
  • sponges
  • surface cleaners
  • bathroom cleaning supplies
  • toilet paper
  • any other household cleaning product

Suggested donation is one bag per player. Items will be collected at the Registration and Check In Table at the entrance to the tournament. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile project.
