Hot time at 7v7 in Placentia

Two Mustang Club teams competed in the California 7v7 tournament in hot Placentia this past weekend at El Dorado High.

• Mustang Blue competed in the “San Francisco” bracket, defeating Manhattan Beach, having draws with Lady O and Corona Wave, and losing to the Blue Dog club from the Bay Area. Coaches voted senior defender Ashley Brewer as the Blue team’s tournament MVP.
• Mustang Gray competed in the “Los Angeles” bracket, defeating Lady O but losing to OC Lacrosse, Los Al and Pacific Falcons from San Diego. Coaches voted freshman goalie Cyrena Malkowski as the Gray team’s tournament MVP.

Other Mustangs comprising the teams were Alyssa and Becca Ransom; Sarah Bacopulos, Jessie Papageorge’s, Hannah Redwine, Rachel Lansner, Justine Tobias, Kayla Ruiz, Kimmy Flemming, Kellian Ahearn, Kelsey Tapia, Courtney Tveit, Shelby Siano, Sarah Kleinbart, Megan McIntyre and Sabrina Garrido. Mustang Lizzy Moore played for Team OC as Mustang alumni Brittani Nagy and Courtney Weckerle were competing in the women’s division. And was that ex-Mustang Veigh Redwine, now playing at Redlands U., hanging out on the sidelines?

By the way, teams from Los Al won both girls’ brackets — as well as the boys’ tournament.
