Varsity 11, Capo Valley 9

March 18, 2011

Once again, Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity showed a flair for second-half dramatics.

In a Sea View League game at Capistrano Valley, the Mustangs trailed at half — for the second night in a row. This time, it was a 5-3 Capo advantage. (Trabuco Hills goals by Rachel Lansner, Lizzie Moore and Jessie Papageorge’s.)

To make matters more interesting, The Mustangs fell behind 7-4 (Sohee Ki goal) just after intermission. Then Trabuco Hills rallied with five consecutive goals — two each by Moore and Papageorge’s plus another from Ki — to grab what amounted to the winning edge midway through the half. The two teams each score a pair the rest of the way (Papageorge’s and Moore, again) as Trabuco Hills went 2-0 in Sea View play.

Notes: Jessie Vuozzo had 12 saves; Hannah Redwine four assists … Trabuco Hills outscored opponents 43-31 in the second half in 2011 so far. … Mustangs are now 3-0 on turf; 2-3 on grass. … Ally Hadley had six goals for Capo.

Record: 5-2 (2-0 Sea View)

Next match: Tuesday hosting San Juan Hills (Sea View League match)
