Tesoro 11, Varsity 10

Another slow start for Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity. And another one-goal defeat, 11-10.

The Mustangs found themselves quickly behind visiting Tesoro, 3-0. With less than a minute before half, the Titans held a 8-4 advantage (Mustang goals by Sohee Ki, Lexi Witkin — and two from Jessie Papageorge’s.) Then Trabuco got two gaols in 14 seconds — Rachel Lansner and Taylor Nunez — to close with 8-6 at intermission.

After the break, a 3-1 Mustang rally (goals by Hannah Redwine, Nunez and Papageorge’s) tied the game at 9 with 13 minutes left. Tesoro countered with two more with only Lizzie More’s score as a reply — and the Mustangs went down to defeat.

Notes: Mustangs now have four losses, three by one goal. … Trabuco had not lost to Tesoro in a regular season match since 2007. Trabuco leads all-time series, 3-2. … Jess Tveit picked up 4 ground balls and had two takeaways … Jesise Vuozzo had 7 saves in the loss.
