JV 2nd at Sticks & Stones
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse’s JV team had its best-ever showing at its Sticks & Stones Invitational tournament on Saturday, finishing second in the 14-team event.
Foothill High’s JV team won the 4th annual Sticks & Stones Invitational, beating host Trabuco Hills, 8-5, in the championship match of the 14-team event.
Trabuco Hills beat Los Alamitos — the 2009 and 201
Host Mustang JV first won “Pool Gray” at the 4th annual Sticks and Stones Trabuco Hills. The Mustangs defeated El Dorado, 8-2, and Santa Margarita, 11-3, to win the pool. (El Dorado was 1-1 in the pool; Santa Margarita went 0-2.)
Trabuco Hills defeated Los Alamitos, 6-3 — the team’s seventh straight win — in the Sticks & Stones semifinals. Los Al teams had won the tournament in 2009 and 2010. Foothill — defeated Tesoro, 7-2, in a semifinal to reach the title game.
But the Mustang winning streak — and luck — ran out against Foothill. The Knights — also the 2008 Sticks & Stones champion — defeated Trabuco Hills, 8-5, in the tournament championship game.
Two Mustangs — Jackie Huse and Hope Dodd — made the Sticks & Stones all-tournament team.
Record: 7-3
Next game: Tuesday at Laguna Hills.
