Varsity 10, El Dorado 9
For the seventh time in 12 games this season, Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity trailed at half. This intermission deficit in Placentia was thanks to host El Dorado — 6-5 — despite Mustang goals from Jessie Papageorge’s, Sohee Ki, Taylor Nunez, Lizzie Moore amd Kayla Ruiz.
As common as early troubles have been for the 2011 Mustangs, though, so to have been second-half rallies.
Three quick goals after the break — a pair from Moore plus one from Hannah Redwine — made it 8-6, Trabuco Hills, in five minutes. But the Hawks responded with a trio of their own goals to regain the lead. Nunez’s goal with 7 minutes left tied the game and a Papageorge’s score with 19 second on teh clock was the game-winner.
While this was a non-league match, the Mustangs (3-1 Sea View) moved closer to the top of the Sea View League Friday as Aliso Niguel (3-2 Sea View) handed Laguna Hills (4-1 Sea View) its first league loss.
Notes: This was only the second time Varsity has won after trailing at half (Other? At Capo Valley, March 18!) … Goalie Jessie Vuozzo made 12 saves in the win. … Nunez had four ground-ball pickups while Lauren Thews, Lexi Witkin, Papageorge’s and Moore all had three … Moore also have three takeaways. Trabuco Hills has outscored opponents, 68-48, after intermission.
Record:7-5; 3-1 Sea View League.
