Capo Valley 11, Varsity 8
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity got outplayed in the second half, and lost another Sea View League match, 11-8, to Capistrano Valley at Trabuco Hills.
Trabuco controlled much of the early play, but could only show a 1-0 lead — a Rachel Lansner goal — to show for it. It was the only lead of the night for the Mustangs. Capo scored two — to go ahead, 2-1, with 12 minutes left. Jessie Papageorge’s quickly tied the match.
Then Capo and Lansner traded a pair of goals (assists to Lexi Witkin and Papageorge’s.) It was 4-4 when Capo scored three straight. Papageorge’s and Melanie Leong scored before break, making it just 7-6 Capo at intermission.
In the second half, Capo controlled the ball — winning all seven draws. The visitors — now 7-0 on teh season — scored the first two goals. Lexi Witkin scored, but Capo scored two more. Witkin — from Hannah Redwine — was the final goal.
Record: 5-5, 0-2 Sea View.
Notes: Niki Neeley had three takeaways; Cyrena Malkowski had five saves. … Mustangs had won the previous three meetings between the two teams.
