Capo Valley 11, Varsity 10 (OT)

Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity lost another Sea View League heartbreaker, this time at league leader Capo Valley, 11-10, in overtime.

Capo Valley opened up a 4-1 lead after 16 minutes (Jessie Papageorge’s had the lone goal.)  Goals by Hannah Redwine and Alyssa Ransom helped cut the Cougars advantage to 5-3 at half.

Ransom scored just after the break, but Capo answered with two more goals and it was 7-4. The Mustangs then got in gear, scoring four times — Papageorge’s, Alex Miller and two from Melanie Leong. Trabuco’s only lead of the night — 8-7, with 13 minutes left — lasted until the 12 minute mark. The game remained tied at 8 each until Capo scored with two minues remaining. Papageorge’s goal with 48 second sleft sent teh game into overtime.

Capo scored the lone goal of the first overtime. Niki Neeley countered to tie it with 1:12 left. But Capo got the game winner with 49 second remaining as the Cougars went to 5-0 in Sea View play.

Record: 8-6, 2-3 Sea View.

Notes: Leong picked up three ground balls; Redwine had three draw controls; Papageorge’s had two assists; Cyrena Malkowski had 12 saves. … Capo defeated Trabuco, 11-8, on March 22; Ally Hadley had six goals for Capo.
