Sticks & Stones 2014
Champions at the 7th annual Sticks & Stones Invitational at Trabuco Hills High School this past weekend included a mix of repeat winners — Los Alamitos and Redondo Union — as well as newcomers — Newport Harbor and Esperanza — to the title trophies.
The two-day tournament — the longest-running junior varsity lacrosse event in the region — featured 24 teams competing in four divisions with 2014′s “Liv’n-Luv’n-Lax’n” theme. The championships were decided in four hard-fought matches that were all decided by two goals or less:
- Blue Division: Los Alamitos #1 defeated Corona del Mar #1, 6-5, in the championship game. Aliso Niguel #1 finished third. It was the 4th time a Los Al team has won a Sticks & Stones trophy – the tournament’s top title collection.
- Silver Division: Redondo defeated host Trabuco Hills, 6-4, in the championship game. Woodbridge finished third. Redondo won a division title at Sticks & Stones in 2012.
- Pink Division: Newport Harbor defeated San Clemente, 6-5, in the championship game. Temecula Valley finished third.Orange Division:
- Orange Division: Esperanza defeated El Dorado, 4-3, in the championship game. Downey finished third.
