JV 13, Foothill 5

The Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse JV team defeated Foothill, 13-5,  on Monday in the Mustangs’ first home game of the season.

The team was lead by Shannon Smith (4 goals, 8 draw controls), Irene Petruzzi (3 goals, 2 assists) and Jacquie Cronkrite (2 goals, 2 takeaways).

Trabuco Hills jumped out to an 8-2 edge at the half, winning 7 out of 10 draws. Mustang offense dominated the game with midfielders Smith, Petruzzi, Cronkrite and Kaylyn Voytilla scoring on 8 out of 9 shots on goal. Goalie Erin Beall held the Foothill team at bay with 3 great saves. Key defensive players in the first half included Shaianne Symonette with 2 key takeaways, Sydney Rauch and Voytilla.

The second half saw Foothill mount a come-back with 8 shots on goal. Goalie Beall held the Knights to just 3 goals, saving 5. Defense assisted with two takeaways from Payton Tate and a strong showing from Rauch, Cronkrite and Shelton.

Trabuco Hills put up another 5 goals in the half from Smith (2), Cronkrite (1), Lauren Liberman (1), and Jordan Cisowski (1).

Of course, the highlight of the night was celebrating our amazing Coach Rich Ransom on his 25th (wink) birthday. Thanks to Tan Malkowski for the cupcakes!

Trabuco Hills (2-0) next  faces Newport Harbor, Thursday in a 4:45 p.m. start at Newport Harbor.
