JV 15, Aliso Niguel B 1

March 19, 2015

Coming off a tough loss at Woodbridge on Tuesday night, the Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Junior Varsity found themselves back on their home turf for Wednesday night’s game against a last-minute fill-in — Aliso Viejo’s JV-B squad.

The Mustangs came out firing on all cylinders with Kristen Rosenberg grabbing the lose ball off the opening draw taken by Sydney Rauch. This theme would continue throughout the night as the Mustangs were able to control 15 draws. Sydney Rauch started the scoring early and the Mustangs never let up scoring 10 goals in the first half and another five in the second half. Goal scorers: Gabi Bitting (9), Rauch (2), Sierra Knudsen (2), Kayla Jones (1) Zoe Cerutti (1)

Ground balls are something that can make or break a game and Sierra Knudsen was one of seven different players that contributed to 20 ground balls giving the Mustangs ball possession for much of the game. When they did not have the ball, they were able to get take aways to get it back. Jordan Cisowski and Karli Franks were two of the seven girls that had takeaways on the night.

The defense anchored by Sarah Daneshmand, Meagan Raft and Kaylie Petko did their job keeping the ball away from the goal. Goalie Ashley Bell recorded six saves on the night, doing her job in the cage.

A well-deserved 15-1 win for the Mustangs.

Record: 4-2

Next: Host Aliso Niguel JV-A on Saturday
