JV 13, Capo Valley 2

The Junior Varsity Lady Mustangs crushed the Capistrano Valley Cougars, 13-2, on Friday.

The game started with a fast moving but low scoring first half with goals by Kristen Rosenberg and Sierra Knudsen. Despite the low scoring there was an extreme amount of ball movement with takeaways by Sherry Hsu, Zoe Cerutti, Kaylie Petko, Sydney Rauch and Gabrielle Bitting. Our girls kept their eye on the ball hustling 13 ground ball recoveries with credits to Karli Franks, Gabby Gorven, Petko, Rauch, Payton Tate, Cerutti, Bitting, and Rosenberg. The Cougars only scored on one of their 4 shots on goal thanks to the defensive skills of goalie Ashley Bell.

In the second half, the Lady Mustangs turned up the heat with an amazing 11 goals by Knudsen, Jones, Bitting, Rauch, Rosenberg, and Jordan Cisowski. The Mustang defense shut the Cougars down allowing only a single goal with another save by Bell; takeaways by Bitting, Jones, Knudsen, and Hsu; and ground ball recoveries by Knudsen, Bitting, Kayla Jones, Tate, Rauch, and Hsu.
