Newport, Downey, Yorba Linda, El Toro win Sticks & Stones crowns
Newport Harbor, Downey, Yorba Linda and El Toro won division titles at the 10th annual Sticks & Stones junior varsity lacrosse tournament at Trabuco Hills this past weekend!
A tournament record 32 teams competed on March 17-18 in four divisions of play. Here’s how each bracket played out:
- BLUE: Newport Harbor JV-A defeated Redondo Union, 6-4, for the title. Host Trabuco Hills defeated San Juan Hills, 7-6, for third place. It was the fourth consecutive year that at least one Newport Harbor team won a Sticks & Stones division championship. (BLUE RESULTS HERE!)
- ORANGE: Downey defeated San Clemente, 5-4, for the title. Los Alamitos beat Aliso Niguel JV-A, 6-4, for third place. (ORANGE RESULTS HERE!)
- PINK: Yorba Linda beat Esperanza, 3-2, for the title. Patrick Henry JV-A beat University, 6-1, for third place. (PINK RESULTS HERE!)
- GRAY: El Toro beat Mission Viejo, 6-1, for the title. Aliso Niguel JV-B beat Patrick Henry JV-B, 8-3, for third place. (GRAY RESULTS HERE!)
- And a shoutout to first-year program Segerstrom, which won its first game ever, 7-2, over La Canada at the tournament.
