At the Rose Bowl Jamboree in Pasadena, the Mustangs ran into a very deliberate Sea Queens team. Trabuco Varsity played defense much of the first half, and was fortunate to be tied, 1-1, at the break.
The game was close throughout the second half, with Newport Harbor gaining a 4-3 lead with under 10 minutes left. The Mustangs put on a tremendous end-game furry in a hail-laced downpour. But five quality shots were denied as Trabuco dropped the season opener.
Record: 0-1.
Notes: Mustangs last played Newport Harbor in 2007 — an 11-10 Trabuco win; Newport visits Trabuco this Friday night for Varsity/JV doubleheader.
