Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Junior Varsity got 23 saves from goalie Cyrena Malkowski as they beat host Newport Harbor, 11-1, for their second consecutive win.
The Mustangs scored the game’s first three goals (Delaney Shelton twice and Hope Dodd) before the Sailors beat Malkowski for their only goal to make it 3-1 midway through the first half. The Mustang JV countered with three more goals — Dodd, again, plus Jackie Huse and Megan McIntyre — for a 6-1 halftime lead.
Although Newport Harbor got off 14 shots after intermission, they could not score. Three more goals from Dodd — five for the night — plus a second from McIntyre and one from Melanie Leong completed the scoring.
Record: 2-2
Next game: Friday at Capistrano Valley.
