Laguna Hills 16, Varsity 15
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity couldn’t get in gear at Laguna Hills and lost a Sea View League match, 16-15.
The Mustangs found themselves down, 5-2, within 5 minutes (two goals by Jessie Papageorge’s.) Trabuco then reeled off 5 straight goals — Hope Dodd, Papageorge’s, Melanie Leong, Hannah Redwine and Megan McIntyre — and Trabuco lead, 7-5. After Laguna Hills got one back, McIntyre and Rachel Lansner scored — and the Mustangs had their largest lead, 9-6. Laguna Hills then rebounded scoring 3 of the half’s final 4 goals — Jackie Huse, the other — to make it 10-9, Trabuco, at the break.
Right after intermission, Trabuco got two goals from Papageorge’s and one from Redwine — while the Hawks scored a pair — and it was 13-11, Trabuco, with 15 minutes left. But then Laguna Hills scored 4 straight to get a commanding lead. Goals by Justine Tobias and Redwine before game’s end weren’t enough.
