Trabuco Hills Girls Varsity celebrated their eight seniors — then lost their third match of the week: 11-9 to Yorba Linda.

In a Mustang-Mustang battle on Senior Night, Trabuco fell behind 3-0 — then 4-1 (Megan McIntyre goal) before awakening. Goals by Alyssa Ransom, Melanie Leong, Hannah Redwine and Jessie Papageorge’s made it 5-5 at half.

After the break, Trabuco grabbed a 7-6 lead — goals by Justine Tobias and Ransom — within 6 minutes. Trabuco had another lead — 8-7 on a Rachel Lansner goal with just under 10 minutes left. But Yorba Linda scored 4 of the game’s last 5 goals — Leong had the lone Trabuco score — to ice the win.

Notes: Papageorge’s and Lansner each had 2 assists … Redwine had 4 groundballs, Papageorge’s and Danielle Leong had 2 … Redwine had 6 draw controls, Lexi Witkin had 4 … Redwine had 3 takeaways; Witkin and Lansner, 2. Cyrena Malkowski had 7 saves.
