JV 4, Woodbridge 2 (S&S)
Trabuco Hills Girls JV Lacrosse opened the 7th annual Sticks & Stones Invitational at Trabuco Hills High School on Friday night with a 4-2 win over Woodbridge.
The anticipation of the first JV tournament of the season meant the Trabuco Hills Mustangs came ready to play in the first half. Jacqui Cronkrite scored the first goal of the half at 15:22. Trabuco owned the draw control for the first half 3-2 with two from Shannon Smith and one from Gabi Bitting. Woodbridge quickly answered managing to put down the Mustang’s defense with two consecutive goals. If not for the four saves made by goalie Erin Beall, Woodbridge may have taken the lead. Trabuco managed to make 9 shots on goal and Smith ripped it into the back of the net before the buzzer ended the half.
The second half saw Trabuco lose all three draw controls and allowed Woodbridge multiple shots on goal. Junior Kaylyn Voytilla netted back-to-back goals in the half. An impressive five saves by Beall enabled the Mustangs to shut out Woodbridge in the half as trabuco picked up a win in Pool A of the tournament’s Blue Division.
Next: Trabuco Hills (6-1) vs. Los Alamitos 2 on Saturday at 8:55am.
