Alison Niguel 3, JV 2 (Lax-a-palooza)
The Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse JV drew Aliso Niguel for their third and final Lax-a-palooza game on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at Laguna Hills.
Aliso started off the game strong with two goals past goalie Erin Beall, leaving the half time score at 2-0. Kaylyn Voytilla and Alyssa Ortega were able to gain an advantage and make two plays into the net in a close second half. Time ran out with a tied score of 2-2.
The coaches and referees agreed to a shootout pitting a shooter against two defenders and the goalie. Goalie Erin Beall stepped up for Trabuco alongside defenders Kody Shelton and Sydney Rauch.
Aliso was the first to step up and take a shot and missed the goal completely. Trabuco went next and the shot was saved by Aliso’s goalie. Still tied during the third round, Aliso fired a shot that made it past Beall — but the officials waived it off due to use of an in ineligible player. Aliso was allowed a replacement shot and scored. Trabuco had one shot left, but unfortunately wasn’t able to answer Aliso’s score. The game ended in a 3-2 defeat for the girls.
Although the tournament wasn’t a three-win day for the Mustangs, they played with heart and integrity. The tournament officially ended the season for the Trabuco Hills Girls JV team, leaving their final record 14-5 and walking away with an undefeated South Coast League championship.
