JV 7, Aliso Niguel A 5 (S&S)
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Junior Varsity faced Aliso Niguel JV-A in game 2 of the Sticks and Stones tournament — a rematch of an epic six-overtime battle a week earlier.
Kaylin Voytilla with an assist by Alyssa Ortega gave our girls the opening score. Ortega and Sierra Knudsen followed up with 2 more ending in a halftime score of 3-1.
In the opening of the second half, Voytilla outran two opponents to score off the draw. Aliso rallied back with 2 goals but Voytilla answered back with 2 goals for the Mustangs. Aliso again rallied with 2 more goals but Voytilla slammed in a final goal in the last 2 minutes Trabuco ahead until the end.
The Mustangs finished with a final 7-5 victory — they’d defeated the same team 10-9 a week earlier — putting them into the Blue Division’s championship match.
The Lady Mustang defense was again highlighted in their determination and skill holding off the Aliso Niguel offense. Voytilla, Knudsen, Gabrielle Bitting, Sherry Hsu, and Karli Franks led our girls to hold a majority of the draw controls. Kristen Rosenberg, Voytilla, Bitting, and Ortega aggressively recovered ground balls. Rosenberg, Ashley Bell, Voytilla, Ortega, Sydney Rauch, Bitting, and Meagan Raft are credited with takeaways and turnovers through their strategic application of defensive pressure.
