Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity remained undefeated in 2016 with an 8-6 win vs. Newport Harbor on Friday night at Estancia HS.
The Mustangs started strong, opening a 7-4 lead by half. Hennessey Evans scored three goals, Kendall Derbyshire, had two goals; plus Juliet Mooney and Gabi Bitting added goals in the half. Goalie Ashley Bell kept Newport at bay with three saves.
Newport made it interesting after the break, but the Mustangs prevailed with their lone goal scored by Sydney Rauch and Bell making five more saves.
Bekah Mendelson picked up 2 ground balls and had two takeaways for the Mustangs in the game. Shannon Smith and two ground balls and a takeaway.
Record: 4-0
Next game: Home match vs. Woodbridge, Tuesday.
