Varsity 22, Aliso Niguel 8
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity continued their quest for a South Coast League title with a win at Aliso Niguel High School 22-8 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Mustangs opened the game with a Hennessey Evans goal off a draw control by Ashley Murillo. Varsity kept the train moving forward and went into cruise control, dominating the game with a halftime lead of 13-4.
A total team effort on the night, the girls settled into the game early on and ran like a well-oiled machine firing on all cylinders. Gaining big leads allows coaches to be able to run multiple plays; move girls around on the field into different positions to give others a chance to catch their breath. It’s also a great confidence boost with only a week to go before they face Tesoro, the Mustangs’ only league loss this season.
Evans was the leading goal scorer with eight on the night, she also had six draw controls. Other goal scorers on the night included Juliet Mooney(4), Kendall Derbyshire(3), Sierra Knudsen(2) Gabi Bitting(1),Hannah Moller(1), Murrilo (1), Sydney Rauch (1) and Audie Schutler (1).
Ashley Bell had eight saves on the night. Mustangs had eight takeaways and twelve ground balls.
Record: 11-2, 5-1 South Coast League
