Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity gave Beckman — Orange County third-ranked team — all it could handle before the Patriots held on for the Rose Bowl Jamboree’s top Gold Bracket trophy, 6-4, in Pasadena.

Trabuco (2-2) started slow and Beckman controlled much of the first half, leading 3-0 until near halftime. Jessie Papageorge’s and Alyssa Ransom scored before the break to cut the Patriot lead to 3-2.

After intermission, Beckman built a 5-3 lead, but another Mustang rush was on the way. Rachel Lansner scored on an assist from Jackie Huse and Papageorge’s then scored and it was 5-4. The Mustangs came close to the equalizer, but failed to knot the contest.

Notes: Trabuco had been “consolation champs” in the Gold Bracket the past two years. … Papageorge’s and Lansner each picked up three ground balls; Katie Kuhlman had two takeaways. … Cyrena Malkowski had 10 saves.
