Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse JV took an early lead against Newport Harbor — and then ran to a 10-5 win in Newport Beach.
The Mustangs (2-1) got goals from Kaylyn Voytilla, Marina Sandoval and Delaney Shelton to open a 3-0 lead early. The host Sailors got two of their own, but then a goal by Becca Haggard and two more from Shelton opened a 6-2 lead at halftime.
After the break, Trabuco got goals from Caroline Rabourn and Shelton to open up a 9-2 advantage. Newport had a late push with three scores, but Sandoval added one more for Trabuco as insurance.
Notes: Mustang JV beat Newport Harbor in ’10 and ’11, too!
