Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity made their match at Tesoro interesting — before a late rush salted away a 14-9 win.

The Mustangs opened up a 5-1 lead midway through the first half on goals from Jackie Huse, Melanie Leong, Hannah Redwine and two from Jessie Papageorge’s. But Tesoro scored three of the half’s last four goals — another one from Papageorge’s the lone Trabuco score — and it was 6-4 at half.

After the break, Tesoro cut the lead to one — at 9-8 with 10 minutes left — despite two more goals from Huse and another from Leong.  After a timeout, the Mustangs got in gear. Three goals from Rachel Lansner, one from Alyssa Ransom and another from Papageorge’s put the Titans away.

Record: 7-5; 1-2 Sea View.

Notes: Justine Tobias, Leong and Ransom had assists …  Redwine and Megan McIntyre picked up two ground balls each … Papageorge’s had six draw controls, Lansner had four … Cyrena Malkowski had 11 saves.
