JV 7, Temecula Valley 4

April 2, 2014

Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse JV rebounded Tuesday night from their divisional championship game loss at the weekend’s Sticks & Stones as Shannon Smith tallied four goals, and Kaylyn Voytilla, Sydney Rauch and Irene Petruzzi notched one point each to take the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at home, 7-4.

Trabuco Hills controlled play right from the start of the game as the Mustangs picked up three goals (Smith, 2 and Voytilla, 1) in the first eight minutes of play. The Bears managed to put two of their eight shots into the back of the net, past goalie Erin Beall. Smith scored two more, one of them with a quick draw control win to the net with just 3 seconds on the clock, allowing Trabuco to take a 5-2 lead into halftime.

Trabuco collected the first score of the second half, as Rauch was able to find the back of the net off a feed from Smith. Temecula Valley answered back with one of two goals for the half. Beall stayed busy in the net, finishing the game with a 13-save effort. Irene Petruzzi picked up the final score of the contest as Trabuco closed out the game with a 3-goal margin over Temecula Valley.

Trabuco Hills took a total of 14 shots on goal, owned 8 of the 13 draw controls, and controlled 20 of the 26 ground balls.

Next: Trabuco Hills (8-2) hosts Tesoro, Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m.
