Friday’s ceremonies included revealing the 2014 South Coast League championship banner!

The night started with the recognition and celebration of the senior lacrosse players from both schools. The game got underway and the Wolfpack charged down the field and scored from the opening draw. The Mustangs responded quickly with a goal from senior Irene Petruzzi. The Mustangs remained stalwart on defense behind the aggressive play of seniors Shelby Siano, Cheyenne Ochoa, Brittany Tran and Caroline Rabourn. The defense harried the Wolfpack attack and forced turnovers from their double teaming strategy. Marina Sandoval scored and the Mustangs took the lead at 2-1. Once the Mustangs were in the lead they went on to score 9 unanswered first half goals and were in control 11-1 when the half ended.

As the second half began, the Wolfpack started to find their rhythm. They scored back to back goals and the ball began to trade possession as both teams fought for control. Ashly Bradshaw received a short pass from Marina Sandoval and shot it past the goalie to go up 12-3. The Mustangs never lost focus and they closed out their season with an Irene Petruzzi goal to beat the Great Oak Wolfpack, 15-4. History buffs will note that this was the 100th Varsity win for the Mustangs!

Goal Scorers of the game were: Irene Petruzzi (3), Melanie Leong (3), Jenelle Phillips (2), Marina Sandoval (1), Taylor Fox (1), Samantha Ransom (1), Ahsly Bradshaw (1), Madison Dumond (1) and Kendall Derbyshire (1).

A special thanks goes out to the Trabuco Hills lacrosse parents that coordinated the celebration of the seniors making it a memorable night for everyone.
