Varsity 17, El Dorado 5
Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse Varsity kept the early-season momentum going with a 17-5 win at El Dorado Thursday night.
The Mustangs started quick — scoring seven goals within the first four minutes — and went to halftime up 12-0. Coach Scott Leong made some adjustments, working on moving the ball around more than if it was a closer game.
The Varsity was able to put it in cruise control for the second half matching El Dorado’s scoring.
Draw control was the name of the game, the Mustangs won 19 for the night with Senior Kendall Derbyshire collecting 12 of those. Derbyshire was all over the field finishing with five assists, five takeaways and a goal of her own.
Goalie Ashley Bell continued to keep the opponents scoring to a minimum with the help of her defense. Bell had four saves in the first half not allowing any goals from El Dorado. Sophomore Audie Shutler had a busy night with four ground balls and three take aways.
Eight girls shared the goal scoring this week, led by Juliet Mooney (5) and Hennessey Evans (3).
Record: 2-0
Next game: Foothill at Trabuco Tuesday.
